If you have watched American Idol for any length of time, you may have seen people advance through who had no business moving on to the next round. There is a website out there where masses of people go on and vote for the worst. These people call and vote for who they think is the worst singer on the competition and usually it keeps him or her on. A few years ago it was Sanjaya(mohawk guy, as we call him). This year it is Tim. He is horrible! Always off pitch and just not a great artist. He is moving on though. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes it into the top 5.
This got me thinking. We are born with sin in our lives. God cannot look on sin. He abhors it! That makes us the worst. However, God loves us! He has loved us since before the foundation of the earth. He knew that we would fall and sin. He decided that He loved us so much that He would send His Son, His only Son, to die for us. So in that way, God voted for the worst! He called in the most precious thing to Him and sacrificed Him for us. He wants us to continue on to the final round. We may sing off key and we may not be that attractive. We may not have the finest things that life has to offer or we may not have had the best life here in earth but the final round is something that we just cannot even imagine. All we have to do is sign up for the contest! That takes courage! God will gives us the courage! We must acknowledge our shortcomings and then get up and sing in front of people. We must call upon His name and be saved. We get the grand prize, the recording contract, the crowns! Keep on voting, God. There are so many more people who need to enter the contest! Thank You, Lord, for tarrying!
