been thinking about my painting my own front door red - and my porch - not sure if i'll get motivated to do it this summer tho with me going back to school -
We had this same discussion when we painted our door red. We finally decided just the door and not the trim. Turns out it was the RIGHT decision! The contrast is very happy. Solid red all over would have been a little somber.
If you want to see some pictures of it, there are some on the before/after pic page of the blog :)
This wasn't one of the options, but I like the door just the way it is. It is so fresh and beautiful. I would go with just the door, though, if I had to choose, though, I would leave the trim and just paint the door.
Have you tried the color visualizer on the Sherwin Williams site? I used it when I was trying to decide on colors for my great room and dining room. It really helped me narrow down my choices. The colors aren't true to what the swatches are that you find in the stores, but you could decide what undertones look best with your brick. You may even rule out red altogether once you see how it looks. Better to virtually make a mistake than waste your time and money. (Seriously, you'd think I work for that company, but I've told so many people about it.)
i vote for painting the door and trim

Well, you can do some things but not everything! Concentrate on school, the door will be there when you get done!

be sure to show the 'after' shots! :)
I say just the door. A white trim will help accent the feature. Oh by the way looked what someone dropped at your door...BLOGGER AWARD

ReplyDeleteKaren G, I have thought of the option but since I have to paint it anyway, I think I am going with red.
Karen, I haven't tried it but have seen what you have done with it on your site and like it.
Harriet, not sure about the kick plate but I am game to try something new.
Heidi, I love the pinterest.
Rachel Joy, thanks and I think I am going with just the door.
